Old luxury diesel vehicles aged 10 years or older will be considered for the Budi Madani subsidy programme, says Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan (right).

Old luxury vehicles aged 10 years or older might be considered for the Budi Madani diesel subsidy assistance scheme, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan told Bernama yesterday.

For this matter, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) will issue a list of vehicles that are classified as luxury under the Budi Madani programme. For reference, the scheme’s individual category, known as the Budi Individu, only entails owners of non-luxury diesel vehicles aged under 10 years old.

“Even though they are classified as luxury vehicles, if these vehicles are ‘sick’ after more than 10 years, they may be considered (for subsidy).”

“Give us time because we don’t want speculation that will cause ‘hoarding’ activities or misappropriation of diesel,” the minister said.

The MoF recently opened registration for the Budi Madani diesel subsidy scheme last week on May 28, following the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidy in the country. Through this initiative, applicants under both the Budi Individu and Budi Agri-Komoditi—the latter catered for farmers or smallholders—will receive RM200 per month to assist them with the targeted diesel subsidy implementation.

While the Budi Madani initiative was more intended for individuals and registered farmers or smallholders, owners of commercial diesel vehicles can apply for the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) instead, where 23 types of diesel-powered commercial vehicles are covered under this scheme.
