JPJ Will Summon Parents Of 12-year Old Boy Seen Driving Car In Viral Video
The parents of the 12-year-old boy who was seen on camera enjoying a car ride with his two younger siblings in Taman Putra Impiana, Puchong, Selangor, will be called by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
The parents have received a notice asking them to cooperate with JPJ investigation, according to its director-general, Aedy Fadly Ramli.
Aedy stated that notice was issued to the parents, who’s also the owner of the vehicle. However, the department will allow the police to complete their investigation first, after which JPJ will investigate in accordance with the provisions of the Road Transport Act 1987. A 12-year-old Malaysian boy has been in the news recently due to a video that went viral on the internet showing him driving a car around his neighbourhood while his two younger siblings are in the car. According to the New Straits Times, the kids have been spotted driving around alone on previous occasions. The ninety-second video shows a white car traveling down a street in the residential area.
The video caused outrage from the public and prompted a police investigation.
The boy's father was investigated by the police on July 30. The incident was captured on camera, and since its July 29 upload to social media, it has received over a million views.
“The parents will be fined for allowing their child to drive without a license and will also receive counseling”, he added.
