Yes, we know everyone is calling for more chargers to feature tap-and-charge functionality similar to DC Handal, and we are certain more will thanks to JuiceUP, a PAIDChain subsidiary.

JuiceUP has just launched its open payment solution system at EVx 2024, announcing its collaboration with various partners to make this ecosystem possible. This locally developed innovative solution, according to JuiceUP, is the first of its kind in the country. It aims to enhance the accessibility and convenience of EV charging with seamless, contactless payment options that can be integrated into any CPO's platform.

The launch event, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Ser Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, also highlighted strategic partnerships with leaders in EV, finance, renewable energy, and IoT.

Charge point operators who have thus far come on board to integrate JuiceUP’s open payment gateway include TNB Electron, JusEV, Cucuk, and EVPower. However, no details are available yet on when it will be rolled out at all the EV charging stations.

As a SaaS provider in EV charging infrastructure management, JuiceUP's universal solution supports various widely accepted payment methods, allowing users to charge their EVs at any network without needing specific apps or subscriptions. We at CariCarz.com gave the system a try, and it was indeed a seamless experience. Furthermore, just by scanning a QR code on the display, users can track their charging status and even terminate their session through it.

Additionally, by collaborating with industry giants like Visa, CIMB, and others, JuiceUP aims to simplify the EV charging experience and support the Malaysian Government’s push for increased EV adoption. CEO Benson Lim announced plans to cover 80% of Malaysia's charging networks by 2025, emphasising the importance of innovation and collaboration.

At CariCarz.com, we find this goal novel; however, with 2025 just around the corner, JuiceUP would need to look into integration with the larger CPOs such as Gentari, ChargEV, JomCharge, and ChargeSini to realise this goal.

Visa’s Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring, Brandon Louie, expressed excitement about enhancing the EV payment experience, while Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah bin Haji Yusof highlighted the significance of a collaborative approach to building a robust EV ecosystem in Malaysia.
