New Polestar Concept BST Previews Marque’s New Track-Focused Roadster

The all-new Polestar Concept BST serves as a preview of the brand’s upcoming track-focused EV roadster.

Besides the sporty MG Cyber GTS Concept, this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed also features yet another sporty EV concept, this time from Sino-Swedish marque Polestar. The centerpiece of the marque’s showcase at Goodwood this year is the new Polestar Concept BST.

Based on the soon-to-be-launched Polestar 6 EV roaster, the Concept BST is essentially a more extreme and track-focused version of the 6, featuring a slew of aggressive parts and performance upgrades. For starters, the Concept BST sports a larger front spiller, which is complemented by more aggressive air curtains placed directly below its split headlights.

Besides the new air curtains, the Concept BST also comes with a vented front hood, both of which helped boost the car’s aerodynamic performance and cooling efficiency.

On the side, the Concept BST gets a more muscular stance thanks to its flared-out fenders. Mind you, these flared-out fenders aren’t your typical bolt-in fender extension kit, as Polestar designed the concept’s front and rear quarter panel from scratch to make it wider than the standard Polestar 6.

The larger wheel arches also allow Polestar engineers to fit the Concept BST with larger 22-inch wheels, giving it a sportier and more radical look than the 6.

By far the most radical part of the Concept BST is the rear part, where it comes fitted with an aggressive rear wing coupled with a bold new rear diffuser. Completing the exterior design upgrade list are the special silver-hued BST graphics placed on both sides of the car.

As of now, Polestar has yet to reveal any details regarding the Concept BST’s powertrain setup. Given that this radical EV roadster is based on the upcoming Polestar 6, we can expect it to come with similar powertrain specs, possibly with some power boost considering its performance-focused nature.

Unfortunately, Polestar also didn’t confirm or hint at any plans to turn the Concept BST into a full-fledged production model, with the brand’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, saying that the concept is “a demonstration of how far we can push our performance brand—Polestar turned up to 11 if you will—and a demonstration of how we could apply the BST formula to our line-up in the future.”
