Tesla has officially commenced deliveries of the Model 3 Performance in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone for electric vehicle enthusiasts in the region. Over the weekend, customers gathered at Tesla's Cyberjaya Experience Centre to receive their eagerly anticipated Model 3 Performance vehicles.

The handover ceremony, which concluded yesterday, celebrates the delivery of over 100 units to excited customers.

The Model 3 Performance builds upon the success of the world's best-selling electric sedan, featuring a refined interior and exterior designed to enhance performance. This model boasts an impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and offers a single-charge range of up to 528 km (WLTP), elevating the driving experience to new heights.

Despite its powerful performance, the Model 3 Performance has a slightly lower range compared to the Model 3 Dual Motor AWD, which delivers up to 629 km (WLTP) on a single charge. Additionally, buyers of the Model 3 Performance will face a higher annual road tax of RM1,640, compared to RM865 for the Dual Motor AWD, under the new EV road tax structure set to take effect in January 2026.

Engineered for ultimate track performance, the Model 3 Performance comes with new front semi-bucket seats with a Performance badge, a larger rear spoiler, and an adaptive suspension system for improved handling. The exterior design includes distinctive red callipers, a front splitter and a Performance-badged rear bumper, setting it apart from other Model 3 trims.

Additionally, to further support the growing number of Tesla owners, the company has established a robust charging infrastructure in Malaysia, with 11 Supercharging stations (52 chargers) and 11 Destination Charging stations (57 chargers).

Now the question most Tesla owners and we at CariCarz is asking is why are all if not most Superchargers placed in Malls where destination chargers would be more appropriate? Why hasn't Tesla looked into rolling out Superchargers along the major highway network where it would ACTUALLY serve its purpose?
