- JomCharge EVC & Gentari First CPO to be Licensed by ECoS
JomCharge’s EV Connection (EVC) and Gentari are the first two CPOs to be officially licensed by the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS).
These licences, comparable to those issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) in Peninsular Malaysia confirms that the licensee’s EV charger installations adhere to safety standards set. On a side note, EVC and Gentari were also the first to receive ST licences in Peninsular Malaysia.
The licences were presented by Datuk Ir. Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid, CEO of ECoS, and ECoS COO Ridwan Saham on August 1, 2024 at the the approved charging station located at BMW Motorrad Regas Premium Sabah and BYD Regas Sabah in Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu
Prior to the handover ceremony, ECoS hosted a briefing session at the Asaya Hotel, attended by representatives from BOMBA, local authorities, EV charger installation contractors, and Charge Point Operators (CPOs). This session aimed to educate and align all stakeholders on the safety standards and regulatory requirements in accordance with Section 8 of the Enactment to ensure public safety.
Haikal Zubir, COO of Gentari Green Mobility, expressed Gentari's partnership with EVC to focus on safety, reliability, and customer-centricity. He also added that Gentari now offer the largest network of licensed charging points in Malaysia which is continuously expanding.
