The rebooted SsangYong marque now goes by its new KG Mobility banner and it just launched its new Actyon coupe SUV in the South Korean market this week.

In case you’ve already forgotten, the Korean automaking brand formerly known as SsangYong has been rebooted as KG Mobility. This week, the marque announced the market launch of its latest offering in the from of the new Actyon SUV in its South Korean home market.

Described as a coupe SUV, the new Actyon actually underpins the Torres model, even adopting its 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo heart. The latter is rated at 168 HP and 280 NM to drive either the front (FWD) or all of its wheels (AWD) via a sole six-speed automatic box.

There’s certainly plenty to talk about the Actyon’s styling, which thankfully no longer shares the divisive look of its SsangYong-badged predecessor. Clearly, as a ‘coupe’ SUV, KG Mobility took plenty of inspiration from things like the Range Rover Velar.

Distinct touches can ben seen in the Actyon’s front and rear LED lighting signature, the somewhat overly styled bumpers, sloped rear glass, and rather flattering 20-inch rolling stock. Said massive wheel size is fitting given its sizeable proportions.

Clearly, KG Mobility took heavy inspiration from things like the Range Rover Velar when styling the new Actyon.

Before you ask, sources online indicate that the new Actyon sits some 4,740 MM long with a 2,680 MM wheelbase, 1,920 MM wide and 1,680 MM tall. Despite sharing the same wheelbase as the Torres, the Actyon is actually a longer, wider and lower SUV in contrast.

On board, it appears that KG Mobility certainly means business with its reboot efforts. There’s loads of tech and luxe present here, the former led by dual 12.3-inch digital displays, one of which serving as the infotainment touchscreen and placed slightly tilted towards the driver.

On board, the new Actyon is both spacious and richly laden with lots of luxe and tech. Clearly, KG Mobility means business with its efforts to reboot the marque formerly known as SsangYong.

The latter is led by the rich use of quilted leather upholstery with suede inserts offered in either black-red or camel-beige two-tone shades. Even the other accents and trims present are rather high end as these come in either carbon fibre of wood.

The list of high-end tech continues with the Actyon’s adoption of a 32-colour cabin ambient lighting suite, wireless charging pad, and a slew of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features promising semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

For the Korean market, the new Actyon shares the same 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo and 6-speed auto powertrain package as the Torres. Both FWD and AWD driveline options are available too.

All of which come on top of what promises to be a comfortably spacious and highly practical cabin, the latter bolstered by the presence of a 668-litre standard boot space that’s also expandable to 1,468 litres thanks to split-folding rear seats.

Apart from the turbocharged petrol powertrain mentioned, KG Mobility made no mentions about possible electrified variants coming later on, though we won’t rule out a future variant that adopts the fully electric powertrain from the Torres EVX either.

For now, the new KG Mobility Actyon goes on sale in South Korea first before arriving in overseas export markets by end of this year. Would you fancy this rebooted Korean marque’s sleek new SUV should it reboot its market presence here in Malaysia?
