- Audi-SAIC Electric Concept Car Will Be Unveiled In November
The electric concept car that SAIC and Audi jointly built as part of their May agreement will be unveiled in November, according to CEO Fermín Soneira of the Audi and SAIC Cooperation Project. The mass-produced version is anticipated to hit the market in the second half of 2025, CarnewsChina has reported.
Production is expected to take place at the SAIC-Volkswagen Anting plant in Shanghai, Audi's largest global market and its most important overseas market. Subsequently, within 18 months of the first car's launch, an SUV and a large sedan will follow, bringing the total number of new models to three, as planned.
It is unclear, nevertheless, if the new models will use Audi's four-ring emblem. Previous reports suggested that the German automaker, worried about the perception of its brand, would remove its famous four-ring emblem in China for a new range of battery-electric cars that would hit showrooms by 2030.
According to Reuters, it is currently unknown whether the cars will go by the Audi brand or a different one that has not yet been determined.
For the record, Chinese automaker SAIC Motor and Audi officially signed a cooperation agreement in May of this year, following a strategic memorandum of understanding signed last July to jointly develop a number of high-end smart electric vehicles (EVs) for their joint venture SAIC Audi, as well as the Advanced Digitized Platform.
