- Johor-Singapore Cross-Border Traffic - 90K Trips Daily
Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke, responded to a query raised by Tan Hong Pin (Bakri) regarding the volume of cross-border vehicle traffic between Johor and Singapore.
On average, 89,818 vehicle trips are made daily across the Johor-Singapore border through the Sultan Ismail Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security (CIQ) Complex and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex.
Of these trips, 31,194 trips are made by cars, 53,000 trips by motorcycles, 3,531 trips by buses and 2,093 by trucks and lorries. These figures represent both Malaysian and Singaporean-registered vehicles crossing the border.
Additionally, specifically, for Singaporean-registered vehicles, a total of 4,397,229 vehicles entered Malaysia via both border checkpoints this year as of Sept 2024. This resulted in a total road charge (RC) collection of RM87,944,580.
On a daily basis, approximately 16,107 Singaporean vehicles enter Malaysia.
Loke further added that the Ministry Of Transport will continue to monitor and manage cross-border traffic to ensure smooth operations and maintain a seamless flow of vehicles between Johor and Singapore. Aiding this is the recent implementation of the vehicle entry permit (VEP) made compulsory for all Singapore-registered vehicles starting Oct this year.
