myRENTAS-Revolutionizing-Border-Clearance-Between-Malaysia-and-Singapore.jpg The proof-of-concept (POC) for the MyRentas QR code immigration clearance system at Johor's two land border entrances has been extended until November, following its initial introduction in June of this year.
The purpose of the extension is to enable the Home Ministry, specifically the Immigration Department, to look into the efficacy of the MyRentas system at the border crossings between Malaysia and Singapore at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) at the Second Link and the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) here.

The MyRentas trial, which follows an earlier application known as MyTrip, is ready for use on car routes and is available to all Singapore travelers, according to Jati Jana (M) Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Azril Rizal Abdullah.
He added that this is in addition to the MyRentas system's ability to integrate with systems from neighboring countries, as well as expedite immigration clearance at the Singapore border crossing.
The QR code technology used by the MyRentas system incorporates human tracking and facial recognition among other security features; has successfully lowered the amount of time needed to clear a checkpoint for a bus carrying passengers by more than 75%, clearing an average of 20 people in less than five minutes, according to Azril.
He also mentioned that the MyRentas app was able to reduce the clearance time from thirty to forty-five seconds, with one user requiring less than five seconds.

“Based on the statistical data obtained, MyRentas average use is 1:29, which is the ratio of a single user using the application 29 times since the system was introduced,” said Azril.

MyRentas recorded nearly two million transactions during the system's testing implementation at BSI, effectively cutting bus users' peak-hour wait times from 120 minutes to 15 minutes.
