Due to Penang Hill Cable Car project construction, Jalan Kebun Bunga will have a Partial road closure from October 15, 2024, to June 30, 2026. During this time, it is recommended that the public follow the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and use caution.
The partial closure will begin at the intersection of Jalan Kebun Bunga and Lorong Air Terjun, before the Park Avenue apartments.
During the period, heavy vehicles will be using Jalan Kebun Bunga and the Jeep Track during non-peak hours on weekdays from 10am to noon and 2.30pm to 4pm.
Kebun Bunga assemblyman Lee Boon Heng encouraged visitors to the Penang Botanic Gardens to park in designated areas rather than along Jalan Kebun Bunga.
A temporary roundabout will be built, and traffic controllers will be stationed to help manage traffic flow along Jalan Kebun Bunga. In addition, a temporary hawker center has been established to accommodate hawkers from the Penang Botanic Gardens hawker complex.
The 2.7km cable car line, valued at RM245 million, is being built in collaboration between Penang Hill Corporation and Hartasuma Sdn Bhd under a public-private partnership with Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbHfor, an Austria-based ropeway manufacturer that will provide the cable car system.
