The highly anticipated Xiaomi SU7 Ultra - the most powerful version of the SU7, will be officially unveiled at Xiaomi's upcoming new product launch event on Oct 29. While SU7 was recently showcased at KLCC, its release in Malaysia may likely never happen.

According to XiaomiTime, users in China can already reserve the mass production model of the SU7 Ultra via the Xiaomi Auto official website and select their preferred store for purchase. For now, no specific technical details or pricing have been disclosed.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun mentioned that the SU7 Ultra will be a high-end product back in Aug 2024, but he stressed that it wouldn't be "excessively expensive." To support this, Goldman Sachs projected that the SU7 Ultra would cost roughly RMB800,000 (or RM490,000), with 4,000 units expected to be sold in 2025.

The prototype unit of the SU7 Ultra was first revealed in July 2024 during a special product launch event, showcasing impressive performance and sleek design. It featured an aggressive front lip, bodykit, wide tires, an enormous rear spoiler, and aerodynamic grooves.

With plans to break records for mass-produced cars in 2025, the SU7 Ultra also hopes to establish a Nürburgring lap time record for non-mass production vehicles later this year.

The SU7 Ultra is equipped with a tri-motor setup, consisting of two V8 e-motors and one V6 e-motor, delivering a combined output of 1,138 kW (1,526 hp). It is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H in just 1.97 secs and reach a V-max of 350 KM/H. While the prototype featured a full-carbon body, the production model will likely omit this due to high costs.

The Qilin 2.0 battery pack from CATL, which has the potential to charge at 6C, also boasts a CTB (Cell-to-Body) design. The latter means the battery is incorporated directly into the vehicle's construction for increased stiffness and interior space.

Additionally, Xiaomi wants to make the SU7 Ultra more widely available to a greater number of drivers. However, it has been stated that Xiaomi is thinking about implementing a rookie driving mode for new users, which would first restrict the vehicle's capabilities.

As an extra precaution to make sure even people who aren't used to high-performance cars can safely adjust to what the SU7 Ultra has to offer, drivers would have to pass specific tests in order to fully utilise the vehicle.

While the SU7 Ultra launch is fast approaching, Xiaomi's ambitions in the EV market continue to grow as the company sets its sights on becoming a major player in automotive innovation.
