- BYD Surpasses Tesla In Revenue For The First Time
Chinese EV giant BYD achieved a noteworthy milestone in Q3 2024 when it overtook Tesla in terms of quarterly revenue for the first time. BYD reported an 11.5% increase in net profit, with revenue of $28.24 billion for the same period, compared to $25.2 billion for Tesla.
This remarkable expansion demonstrates BYD's dominance in China, which is fueled by a wide range of reasonably priced EVs and plug-in hybrids as well as calculated government assistance. -full_normal.jpg)

BYD's growth in revenue has been supported by its hybrid models, which appeal to a wide range of consumers, while Tesla is still focused on all-electric vehicles. The third quarter saw a 75.6% increase in BYD's hybrid sales to 685,830 units, largely due to the company's new fuel-saving technologies that satisfy drivers' demands for cost and efficiency.
The Chinese government has been a major backer of the electric vehicle industry, providing both local and national subsidies to promote the use of eco-friendly automobiles. Specifically, local government bonuses and a nationwide trade-in subsidy of up to $2,800 per consumer have contributed to BYD's impressive performance.

BYD has big plans to expand its global presence in addition to its success at home. In Q3, the company's international sales increased by 32.6% to 94,477 cars, indicating a notable expansion in its global reach. In spite of European tariffs on Chinese EV imports, BYD is still growing its market share and plans to double its exports to 450,000 vehicles by the end of the year.
