JPJ_RoadBlock_4_BM-750x498-full_normal.jpg 11,435 motorcycle riders nationwide were issued summonses in the first four days of the two-month-long special operation, Operasi Khas Motosikal 2024, which was launched by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) last Friday.
According to JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, during the four days of the inspection, 31,851 motorcycles had been inspected and 4,533 of them were subject to action. 135 motorbikes were also seized due to noncompliance with the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and its associated regulations.
The top five offenses over the four-day period, according to Aedy Fadly, were riding a motorcycle with an expired motor vehicle license (LKM) (2,290 cases), not having insurance coverage (2,044 cases), not having a competent driving license (CDL) (2,922 cases), technical offenses (1,043 cases), and using registration numbers that did not meet specifications (663 cases). 2017_SB020717HY012b_1730446347-full_normal.jpg

This special operation is expected to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents through a focused enforcement strategy to monitor, detect, and take action against riders and motorcycle owners who fail to comply with the stipulated regulations.

This is in response to the alarming statistics with the increasing trend in the rate of fatal accidents recorded by the Royal Malaysia Police, especially involving motorcycles.
