- Mercedes-AMG High-Performance Electric SUV Begins Cold-Weather Testing
Prototypes of Mercedes-AMG's upcoming high-performance electric SUV and four-door coupe have started winter testing, providing proof that the company isn't slowing down its EV drive.
The SUV, which is built on the AMG.EA design, will accompany the four-door coupé in a series of cold-weather tests in Sweden, close to the Arctic Circle. This is a significant step towards Mercedes-AMG's all-electric future, fusing performance engineering with the difficulties of sub-zero temperatures.
At this point, it is still heavily camouflaged. Tests are conducted on both public roads and specialised facilities, and Mercedes-AMG claims that cold weather testing "is an important milestone in the development process."
The first trip is Northern Sweden, where the SUV will endure demanding tests at temperatures below freezing close to the Arctic Circle to thoroughly examine how all the parts work together.
Regardless of what that implies, the new SUV "showcases the pioneering role of the high-performance drive in the innovative all-electric architecture" and has "a new high-performance battery concept."
The brand's decision to deploy cutting-edge technology for genuine high-performance EVs is highlighted by the use of axial-flux motors, which are renowned for their small size and unmatched power density. These innovations are intended to significantly improve economy, acceleration, and range when combined with a next-generation battery system.
With cold-weather testing now under way and further development planned for the upcoming months, the SUV and four-door coupé are expected to have a significant impact on how electric performance develops in the future.
