- No Extra Requirements For Senior Citizens To Renew Licences - JPJ
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Ministry of Transport have made it clear that senior citizens would not be subject to any extra criteria when it comes to renewing their Malaysian Driving Licence (LLM).
The renewal process for seniors will continue to adhere to the current rules and standard operating procedures (SOP) under the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987, JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli assured Utusan Malaysia.
Additionally, he advised the people to carefully check information and abstain from disseminating untrue statements. The statement addresses claims that were making the rounds on WhatsApp and social media that seniors 60 years of age and above will have to get a health examination beginning January 1st of next year in order to renew their licenses.
The rumours also claimed that those who pass the health exam could extend their driving licences for up to 10 years.
