Puspakom CEO Mahmood Razak Bahman has issued a strong warning to Puspakom staff that any misconduct will not be tolerated. This follows surprise inspections by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) at Puspakom’s Wangsa Maju branch, where a vehicle deemed unsafe were found to have passed inspection.

“To uphold the integrity of Puspakom inspections, the company will take firm action against staff found guilty of misconduct, as outlined in their employment contracts, including suspension or dismissal,” Mahmood stated, according to Sinar Daily.

The CEO confirmed that two staff members from the Wangsa Maju branch have been summoned by JPJ for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. He further assured the public that Puspakom would act decisively based on the findings of the investigation.

The nationwide operation, dubbed Op Mengejut Puspakom, was conducted on December 30 without prior notice, under the directive of Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Joining the operation at Puspakom Wangsa Maju were Transport Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan and Kuala Lumpur JPJ Director Hamidi Adam.

During the two hour operation, JPJ officers had inspected 115 lorries, issued 69 summonses, took action on 29 vehicles, and seized seven vehicles, including five cars and two lorries.

Puspakom has pledged full cooperation with the authorities and encouraged the public to report any misconduct at its centres via its hotline at 1-800-88-2005.
