- Malaysians Can Now Use QR Codes For Faster Immigration Checks At KLIA
With the implementation of the MyBorderPass QR system, Malaysians can now clear immigration at KLIA more quickly. The new system reduces the time it takes to pass immigration through the auto gates.
In a post on its social media accounts a day ago, the Immigration Department stated that Malaysians must first download the MyBorderPass app to register their travel information before using the quick response (QR) code system at KLIA. It further stated that Malaysian travellers must authenticate their faces for the verification procedure after installing the smartphone application, either before departing or when they arrive.
“This is a new experience for Malaysians, starting in January this year. The Home Ministry (KDN) has launched an immigration clearance system using QR code at KLIA, specifically for Malaysians,” the department said.
According to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the government will begin implementing the use of QR codes, specifically for Malaysians, on a trial basis this month in order to ensure seamless immigration checks at the 40 designated lanes at Terminals 1 and 2 of KLIA.
