- SIME AutoArena Champions EV Adoption
Sime Motors and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia have announced a strategic partnership to promote sustainable transportation and expand the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia.
To kick off this collaboration, Sime Motors is hosting AutoArena, the first automotive event of its kind held at the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur Sports City. Running until Sunday, Jan 12, from 9AM to 7PM, the event showcases premium offerings from brands such as BMW, MINI, BYD, Hyundai, Jaguar, and Volvo. Visitors can also explore premium pre-owned vehicles from Auto Selection.
As part of the partnership, Sime Motors will provide Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia with two units of BYD EVs for 24 months to support stadium operations. Additionally, an EV charging station will be installed at the stadium to enhance local charging infrastructure and offer greater convenience for the community. According to insider sources, this charging station will be set up in collaboration with Gentari. However, there hasn't been any firm confirmation to which yet.
Jeffrey Gan, MD of Sime Motors Southeast Asia, said, "EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia, as reflected by rising EV sales in 2024. This initiative aligns with the government’s aim of increasing EV adoption by 2030 and helps foster greater awareness of the benefits of EV ownership among Malaysians."
He also noted that AutoArena is just the first of many events planned for the iconic Bukit Jalil National Stadium, designed to engage and educate the public on green mobility.
Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia CEO, Iliyas Jamil, expressed pride in the collaboration, emphasizing the stadium’s role as a hub for over a million annual visitors. He stated that the partnership with Sime Motors will make EVs more accessible while encouraging sustainable lifestyles.
Visitors to AutoArena can enjoy exciting offers, promotions and the opportunity to explore the future of green mobility.
