- Tata Avinya X Concept Previews Marque’s Future Premium EV SUV
The all-new Tata Avinya X Concept previews the marque's future premium EV SUV, featuring JLR’s new EMA platform.
India’s Tata Motors is poised to enter the premium automotive market space by unveiling a new electric crossover concept, known as the Tata Avinya X Concept. Unveiled at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025 in India, this radical concept will serve as a basis for Tata's upcoming premium Avinya lineup.
Tata Motors isn’t exactly the first name that comes to mind when you think of premium luxury EVs, but the new Avinya X concept is set to change all that. Perhaps the most important bits this radical concept boasts to make it premium-worthy lie in its underpinnings, with the Avinya X using the new Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) EMA platform, thanks to Tata’s ownership of the British marque.
Although no specific details were mentioned on this new platform and the drive units it is primed with, JLR’s underpinning promises to deliver decent driving performance, not to mention some degree of off-road driving capabilities, which Land Rovers are famously known for. Battery-wise, Tata promises this new EV will boast a maximum EV range of over 480 KM, while including standard EV features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) reverse charging, to name a few.
What’s also premium for the Avinya X lies in its design, as Tata’s design team has managed to make this concept look radically different from other current Tata models, featuring a more modern and minimalistic look. Some key design features include the grill-less front face featuring a slim LED bar, a sporty, coupe-style roofline with a tapered rear windscreen, flushed door handles, massive two-tone wheels, and many more.
Being a concept, the Avinya X gets a pretty minimalistic and plain interior, brimmed with tech amenities and space for five. Some amenities primed here include the massive central infotainment screen, a two-spoke steering wheel with a small digital metre cluster hiding behind, a floating central armrest for the front seats, a stowaway central table for the rear passengers, a multi-colour ambient lighting system, plush soft-touch upholstery, and many more.
As of now, Tata Motors has yet to unveil the exact debut date for the production version of this radical Tata Avinya X concept. What’s certain is that this upcoming EV SUV will use the same EV powertrain and battery technologies as future Jaguar and Land Rover EVs, which are touted to debut sometime later this decade.
