Tata Punch.ev Open For Booking, First EV Built On acti.ev Architecture
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) unveiled its game-changing acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle) architecture, marking an important step forward in India's electric vehicle (EV) development.
Punch.ev, the first product based on this architecture, will set the stage for a diverse range of future TPEM offerings in various body styles and sizes.
Mr. Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer and Head of HV Program and Customer Service at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., cited the acti.ev as a pioneering, made-in-India Pure EV architecture with class-leading efficiencies, optimal space utilisation, increased battery capacity, and an improved driving experience.
He adds that acti.ev is a globally ready, forward-thinking pure electric architecture that incorporates software-oriented features to ensure technological advancement and vehicle future-proofing.
The acti.ev architecture's powertrain includes an optimised battery pack design that’s been tested to advanced global standards and has a 10% increase in energy density. The architecture supports modularity in drivetrain options (AWD, RWD, FWD) and provides multiple range options ranging from 300 KM to 600 KM.
It can also be equipped with a 7.2 kW to 11 kW onboard AC charger. It also accepts DC fast charging inputs up to 150 kW, which promises 100 KM range with just 10 minutes of charging.
The acti.ev will be able to accommodate multiple body types as a platform, with a reinforced structure that meets future safety protocols. The acti.ev will also boast improved driving dynamics and handling by having a lower centre of gravity and maximising cabin space with a flat floor and additional storage.
On the tech front, this architecture is said to be future-ready, scalable, and capable of adopting ADAS Level 2+ to ensure higher levels of safety and navigation. 5G readiness provides advanced network speeds and seamless connectivity, as well as support for Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technologies.
Customers interested in the Punch.ev can now register their interest by visiting Tata Motors showrooms or Tata.ev stores and paying IND21,000 (RM1200) booking fee. However, the exact price and delivery date remain unknown for now.
