The final decision regarding the ticket fares for the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link will be made by the country's top leadership by January 2027, as stated by Dr. Ahmad Marzuki Ariffin, CEO of RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO).

The decision, according to him, will be based on several factors, including the fluctuating exchange rates between Malaysia and Singapore.

"There is a process being taken into account to determine the fares, not to mention it involves two countries. For now, we cannot share any information, but the matter will be announced next year.

"The currency difference will be taken into account. Whether the fares are in ringgit or Singapore dollars or both, it will be announced later," the CEO said in a Bernama report.

Ahmad Marzuki stated that construction is underway on 50% of the RTS Link rail line between Malaysia and Singapore. Track installation, which began at the Wadi Hana Depot, is progressing well and is over 65% complete. This work includes installing and securing rail tracks and track linings with fastening clips.

"We expect track work to continue towards the Woodlands North Station in Singapore, and it is expected to be completed this July. System-related work involving the installation of track power supply components, signalling and communication systems will commence in March," he said.

The RTS Link is a 4-kilometer commuter rail network that connects Johor Bahru and Singapore. With a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, the project reached a significant milestone in January 2024 with the completion of the span connection at the junction of the marine viaduct.
