Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, emphasized that the federal and state governments are committed to ensuring that only Malaysian nationals receive the RON 95 fuel subsidy.
As reported by Bernama, authorities will take strict action against any misuse by foreign car owners to protect the rights of local residents and the subsidy system.

"We will not compromise on non-compliance that could undermine the rights of the people," he declared.

The Johor MB, along with Lee Ting Han, the chair of the state's Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee, and enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs' (KPDN) Johor branch, inspected a number of petrol stations in the Johor Bahru area.

The inspections aimed to verify compliance with fuel regulations, specifically that RON 95 petrol was sold exclusively to Malaysian nationals at a price not exceeding RM2.05 per litre, as stated by Onn Hafiz.

During the operation, the team also checked if petrol station owners were complying with the rule prohibiting the sale of RON 95 fuel to foreign-registered cars. Additionally, they monitored diesel refilling at border areas, ensuring that foreign cars adhered to the 20-liter limit within 50 kilometers of the border.

The public is encouraged to actively participate in maintaining transparency within the discounted fuel distribution process. Citizens can report any violations of fuel subsidy regulations through the KPDN e-Complaint Portal, where each complaint will be thoroughly reviewed and followed by appropriate action, the MB says.

"We hope that these steps will help curb subsidy leakage and ensure that the benefits reach those who truly deserve them. Insya-Allah," he added
