- KTMB Reacts After Elderly Spotted Crossing KTM Tracks In Kelantan
Many people seem unaware of the dangers of crossing train tracks, such as being hit by a train, electrocuted, or being knocked off their feet by the force of a passing train.
A recent viral video, reportedly from Kelantan and shared by KelantanFA on Facebook, shows an elderly man seemingly unconcerned as he waited in a small area for a train to pass before casually crossing the tracks towards a residential area, as if this was his routine activity.
KTM Berhad has taken notice of the incident and responded to the viral video within its comment section.
KTMB responded by emphasizing the dangers and illegality of crossing or trespassing on railway tracks, citing Section 126 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which stipulates that violators may be fined up to RM500 and are at risk of severe injury or fatality.
The video quickly went viral, causing concern and anger online. People widely shared their opinions in the comment section.
Someone mentioned how close houses in Kelantan are to railway tracks, noting it's similar to Gua Musang, implying residents are used to it. Another person joked that "the old man is the dangerous one, not the train," suggesting they are very comfortable and perhaps see little risk.
