In conjunction with the upcoming 46th ASEAN Summit taking place in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from May 23 to 27, Rapid KL will extend its rail operating hours to accommodate the anticipated increase in commuters.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), the operator of Rapid KL, announced that weekday peak hours during this period will be extended by an additional hour. Weekend train frequency will also be increased to support the higher number of passengers expected due to the summit.

Morning peak hours will now run from 6:30AM to 10:00AM, and evening peak hours from 4:30PM to 8:00PM. This is a shift from the usual peak periods of 7:00AM to 9:30AM and 5:00PM to 7:30PM.

Additionally, to manage the anticipated surge in ridership, Prasarana will deploy 400 additional ground staff at selected rail stations to assist with passenger movement and support ASEAN delegations using public transport.

Rapid KL will also strengthen its operational control and monitoring systems throughout the summit to ensure smooth rail service. More trains will be deployed if there is a noticeable increase in passenger volume.

Bus services and the Rapid KL On-Demand service may be affected by temporary road closures implemented by authorities during the summit period.

Routes expected to experience schedule delays are - Route 402 (LRT Titiwangsa – LRT Maluri), Route 302 (LRT Titiwangsa – KLCC), Route 300 (Pandan Indah Hub – Lebuh Ampang), Route 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya – Lebuh Ampang) and Rapid KL On-Demand (Titiwangsa – Chow Kit Zone).

Prasarana went on to advise the public to use the rail network to avoid potential delays and traffic congestion, especially around the KLCC area. For timely updates, users are encouraged to download the PULSE app for real-time information.
