2025 Proton X50 ROI Opens – 3 Variants, New 1.5L 4-Cyl Engine, Wireless AA/ACP
Registration of interest for the all-new 2025 Proton X50 has now been opened, featuring three variants.
After several spyshots and rumours, national automaker Proton has finally unveiled the all-new 2025 Proton X50. For its latest iteration, this popular B-segment SUV features tons of improvements inside and out, with its registration of interests (ROIs) now being opened ahead of its debut.
Unlike the ongoing model, the new X50 will be available in only three variants, namely Executive, Premium, and Flagship.
On the visual front, the new X50 gets a refreshed exterior, with the most prominent features being its new front face featuring sharp LED headlights and a new front grille with Proton’s signature songket weave pattern. This B-SUV also gets a more aggressive rear wing for the Flagship variant, new full-width LED taillights, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels while retaining its signature quad tailpipes at the rear.
Also new here is the Teal Bayou Green colourway, which is available on top of four existing colourways like Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver.
The all-new Proton X50 becomes the second-ever Proton model to feature both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity support.
The upgrade list continues as we get inside the new X50, where it ditches the ‘traditional’ cabin layout for a newer, more minimalistic approach. The centrepiece for this minimalist cabin is the new 14.6-inch central infotainment screen that now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as the new Bahasa Melayu voice recognition feature.
On top of that, the new X50 can also be connected to the Proton Link 2.0 mobile app, offering drivers functions like remote start/stop and pre-conditioning, real-time vehicle status updates, and even service appointment scheduling.
Other new amenities primed here include a cleaner central console with a wireless charger and cup holders, a steering-mounted gear shifter, a slim digital metre cluster, soft-touch materials and upholstery, a 72-colour rhythmic ambient light system, a panoramic sunroof, and many more.
On the safety front, the new X50 now supports full Level 2 ADAS capabilities, thanks to several new active safety features. On top of the improved ADAS, this sporty crossover also features a new Rear Side Radar System (RSRS), an improved Auto Park Assist (APA) system, a 360-degree HD camera, and a 180-degree undercarriage transparent view system.
Perhaps the biggest improvement given to the new X50 lies under the hood, as it ditches the current 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbocharged engine for a new 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged i-GT engine that delivers 178 hp (133 kW) and 290 Nm. Still mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox and a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup, the new X50 is now 0.3 seconds faster than the current model in a century sprint, while at the same time being 4.7% more fuel efficient.
Registration of interest for the all-new 2025 Proton X50 can now be made via Proton’s official website. In conjunction with its upcoming launch, Proton is also organising several exclusive events featuring the new X50, and you can learn more about them by visiting Proton’s official social media channels.
