- BYD Brings L4 Autonomous Parking with Full Liability Guarantee
BYD has announced that its God’s Eye advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) now supports Level 4 autonomous parking. This means the vehicle can park itself without any driver input under specific conditions.
In a bold move that reflects its confidence in the system, BYD has pledged to take full responsibility for any losses caused by its ADAS error during parking. BYD clarified that it will cover these liabilities whenever the vehicle is found to be at fault in a legal proceeding.
The company stated it will bear the entire cost of repairs, third-party property damage, and personal injury compensation if any malfunction or algorithm error in the parking assist system results in an accident.
If an incident occurs while parking, drivers won’t need to file an insurance claim. Instead, they can contact BYD’s service team directly. This approach aims to protect users from increased insurance premiums in the following year, a common consequence of traditional claims.
An over-the-air (OTA) update will soon be rolled out to BYD vehicles equipped with the God’s Eye B and C which will enhance the parking system with three-speed functionality and support more complex parking situations.
BYD says this will be the most extensive God’s Eye update to date and will also bring improvements to driving and safety performance beyond just parking.
Launched in Feb 2025, God’s Eye ADAS is part of BYD’s mission to democratise autonomous driving. The system was introduced even on its most affordable models, such as the BYD Seagull, priced from RMB69,800 (RM46,300). As of July 7, more than one million BYD vehicles are equipped with God’s Eye.
BYD claims it is the first automaker to achieve Level 4 autonomous parking and the first to offer a formal liability guarantee for such a system. “Our move reflects absolute confidence in God’s Eye ADAS,” the company said in its announcement.
At present, the BYD God’s Eye ADAS remains exclusive to the Chinese market and is not yet available in BYD’s international offerings.
