The 11th-gen Honda Accord was refreshed in Thailand this week, bringing forth minor changes with big improvements all around.

More interesting news from the Land of Smiles north of our Peninsular’s borders. This week, Japanese automaker Honda saw its Thai arm launch an updated 2025 model year (2025MY) iteration of its signature Accord D-segment saloon nameplate.

For said Kingdom, the 11th-gen Accord model has received several minor but key changes in specifications. One major change here is that the Thai-spec 11th-gen Accord is now marketed solely with the H-marque’s ‘HEV’ hybrid powertrain only.

Specific for Thailand, the Accord get an E20-compliant 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 4-cyl Atkinson Cycle petrol mill that works in tandem with a e-motor plus compact lithium-ion battery set.

Both drive the front wheels via an E-CVT box, with the combustion (ICE) half rated at 145 HP and 182 NM, whereas the electrified HEV half bring 181 HP and 335 NM into the mix. The automaker touts a total system output of 207 PS, plus six selectable drive modes.

New on board is a Blind Spot Information (BSI) system, and it replaces the LaneWatch camera function offered prior.

Moving to kit and, critically, Honda elected to ditch its signature yet somewhat maligned LaneWatch camera feature in the Accord for Thailand. Said feature has been replaced with a Blind Spot Information (BSI) system instead.

In other words, instead of a camera view of the left-side blind spot triggered when the left-side signal, drivers now get a more familiar side-mirror mounted warning lights. This is arguably one very welcoming change indeed.

New on board too is a Cross Traffic Monitor - also known as Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) function.

That aside, the refreshed 11th-gen Accord for Thailand also gains a newly added Cross Traffic Monitor – Honda’s own term for the popular Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) function found in most ADAS-equipped cars today.

Notably, both new safety features now come standard across the board for the Accord in neighbouring Thailand. Three variants are offered here, those being a ‘base’ e:HEV E guise, followed by mid-range e:HEV EL grade, and a sportier e:HEV RS range-topper.

There are some visual changes to note in this 2025MY update too. In the e:HEV E grade, it gets revised trims in the saloon’s lower portion, tweaked grille frame now finished in body colour, headlamps with black base and clear lens, and new black 17-inch wheels.

Naturally, level of kit also vary between variants. Key highlights include all-LED lighting, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery rear window shades, wireless charging pad, 12-speaker Bose audio suite, Google built-in 12.3-inch touchscreen, and more.

The 2025MY refresh brings a few minor design tweaks too.

Higher-end variants (EL and RS) gain 18-inch wheels, cabin ambient lighting and head-up display (HUD). The range-topping RS ups the ante with a panoramic glass roof, sequential turn signals, as well as cabin active noise cancellation, amongst many.

As for safety, all variants get eight airbags, followed by the Honda Sensing suite with lane departure warning and keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Present too is the Honda Connect telematics suite.

In Thailand, the sporty e:HEV RS range-topper commands THB1,729,000 (RM224,495).

Lastly, price. Things start at THB1,479,000 (approx. RM192,035) for the base e:HEV E grade, THB1,599,000 (approx. RM207,616) for the mid-spec e:HEV EL grade, and THB1,729,000 (approx. RM224,495) for the e:HEV RS range-topper.

Closer to home, it has been two years since Honda Malaysia elected to drop its signature D-segment saloon nameplate from the local market. The firm last offered the tenth-gen model up until 2023 before skipping its 11th-gen successor detailed altogether.

Given what we detailed from the Land of Smiles, what do you folks think? Were Honda Malaysia right to pull the plug on the Accord and its brand presence in the D-segment saloon space? Hit the comments below…
