- No Toll Charges For Motorcyclists, LLM Debunks Viral Rumour
Motorcyclists can breathe easy as there are no plans to impose toll charges on them, says the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).
The clarification came after a post by ebidmotor.com went viral, claiming motorcyclists would start paying tolls this October. The post sparked panic and heated discussions among riders online.
“That’s not true,” LLM said in a statement, stressing that motorcyclists remain exempt from toll fees.
The agency warned that such false claims could cause unnecessary worry and tarnish the image of the government, the Works Ministry, LLM, and highway concessionaires.
LLM explained that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently trialling an open toll payment system equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
“If the trials go smoothly, the system will be introduced in stages across PLUS-operated highways,” LLM said.
The upgrade aims to smoothen traffic flow, make payments easier, and cut congestion at toll plazas.
LLM also reminded the public to only trust official updates from relevant authorities, not unverified social media posts.
As we checked, ebidmotor.com has removed the post that triggered the confusion.
