- OMODA I JAECOO Crowns First-Ever National Skills Champion
The search for Malaysia’s best OMODA I JAECOO technician came to an exciting close as Wong Sau Seng from Gagner Auto Sdn Bhd clinched the national title at the automaker’s inaugural Technical Skills Competition.
The contest began months ago with more than 132 specialists from 48 dealerships across the country. After rounds of theory and practical tests, only 10 made it to the final showdown.
Wong, who will now represent Malaysia at the world finals in China this October, said his win was the result of hard work, strong company backing, and constant encouragement from his mentors.
“It’s a great honour and I feel truly proud to now represent Malaysia at the global level, showcasing our skills and commitment to excellence," he added.
Second place went to Ng Chen Ton of CarShen Sdn Bhd, while third place was secured by Syasya Mazdiana Binti Nor Azman of Anggerik Auto Sdn Bhd.
Syasya also stood out as the only woman in the finals, making her mark in a male-dominated field.
"Being the only female technician in the finale is an honour that shows women can stand equal with men in the technical field. "Never doubt your potential. The field may be challenging, but every challenge is an opportunity to prove yourself. Believe in yourself, keep learning, and be brave to step forward, the automotive world needs more great women," she shared.
Finalists were tested on product knowledge, diagnostics, and service processes, but most of the score came from hands-on troubleshooting and repairs.
The judging panel, made up of Chery Malaysia’s senior technical trainers and experts, assessed accuracy, efficiency, and overall service quality.
Organisers said the competition was not just about crowning winners but about lifting service standards nationwide.
By nurturing local talent and celebrating diversity, OMODA I JAECOO hopes to build a culture of excellence that benefits customers and inspires future technicians.
“On behalf of OMODA I JAECOO, a big congratulations to all our technicians for putting their best foot forward. We look forward to making Malaysia proud as our National Champion goes on to compete at the World Skills Competition soon,” said OMODA I JAECOO Malaysia Vice President Emily Lek.
