MAS 2025: Omoda C7 Previewed – Now Under Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia

Jaecoo Malaysia has rebranded itself into Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia while previewing the upcoming Omoda C7 SUV.
It has been one year since Jaecoo Malaysia made its Malaysian debut, where it has now rebranded itself into Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia, thus following the convention used in other overseas markets. In conjunction with the rebranding, the Wuhu-origin automaker has also previewed its upcoming SUV crossover model at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), known as the Omoda C7.
Debuted globally last year, the new Omoda C7 is essentially the brand’s new C-segment SUV crossover fighter, where it stood as the sportier and more youth-targeted twin to the marque’s current C-SUV fighter, the Jaecoo J7.

Design-wise, the C7 gets several sharp and sporty design bits, with some of them drawing inspiration from its fellow sporty siblings, the Omoda C9 and C5. Key design highlights include sharp LED headlights flanking its honeycomb-pattern front grille, a sporty coupe SUV roofline with a rakish rear windscreen, flushed door handles, through-type LED taillights with unique zig-zag lighting signatures, 20-inch turbine-style alloy wheels, and many more.

In terms of sizing, the C7 measures 4,621 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, 1,673 mm tall and has a 2,700 mm wheelbase. This puts the C7 on the same level as other popular C-SUVs like the Kia Sportage, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5, to name a few.
Unfortunately, the doors on this C7 unit displayed were locked, so we can’t get access to its interior. But using the global-spec model as a reference, we can expect the Malaysian-bound model to get the same equipment list, which includes things like a large 15.6-inch central infotainment screen, a Sony premium audio system, powered, ventilated, and heated front seats, and many more.

In terms of powertrain, the displayed C7 unit here is a turbocharged AWD variant, which uses the same 1.6-litre 4-cyl TGDi engine as the Jaecoo J7, outputting 194 HP and 290 NM to all wheels (AWD) via a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Alternatively, the C7 is also with the same Super Hybrid System (SHS) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, consisting of a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine and a single electric motor rated at 201 HP and 310 NM.
Combined, this PHEV setup grants the C7 hybrid a decent 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.5 seconds, while its BYD-sourced 18.3-kWh battery provides up to 95 km of pure EV range and over 1,250 km of combined travel range—both according to the WLTP standards.

With the Omoda C7 already previewed and the Omoda | Jaecoo branding made official in Malaysia, this could indicate that more Omoda and Jaecoo models are expected to make their landfalls soon. Among the models we can expect to arrive here include the stylish Jaecoo J5 B-segment SUV, as well as the facelifted and upgraded version of the Chery Omoda 5, which might be known as the Omoda C5 from now on.
Those who are interested in checking out the new Omoda C7 and other Omoda or Jaecoo models can make their way to the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, happening at MAEPS Serdang from May 9 to 15, 2025.
