- KTMB Expands Open Mode Gates In Selected Stations
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is rolling out its Open Mode gate system at more stations to make commuting smoother and faster.
Starting October 13, passengers at Kajang, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Abdullah Hukum, Kampung Batu, Kepong Sentral, and Sungai Buloh can walk through the Automated Control Gates (ACG) without waiting for them to open and close.
The same goes for Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam stations up north.
These join major hubs like KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, and Subang Jaya, where open gates have already helped ease congestion during peak hours.
Still, KTMB reminded commuters that the gates may be open, but your ride isn’t free. So remember to tap your card or scan your QR ticket as usual.
Meanwhile, KTMB is also adding two extra ETS trains for the Deepavali season. The additional services will run between Padang Besar and Kuala Lumpur from October 17 to 22, with tickets available from October 7.
The festive boost will add 630 seats a day or 3,780 in total including business class, to accommodate the expected surge in travellers heading home for the holidays.
