KLSCM-2025.jpg If you’re heading into the city this weekend, be prepared for major road closures as Kuala Lumpur plays host to two big events which are the KL Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2025 and the final stage of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2025.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said around 40,000 runners, including 3,300 from overseas, will take part in the marathon on Oct 4 and 5.

The fun kicks off with the 5km and 10km runs on Saturday (Oct 4), starting at 5.30AM. Roads will be closed from 5AM to 10AM. On Sunday (Oct 5), the longer 21km and 42km races begin at 3.30AM, with closures from 3AM until 10AM.

"Among the roads involved on Oct 4 are Jalan Raja Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Ampang towards the city centre, Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Kuching towards Bulatan Dato Onn," Fadil said.

The next day, closures will stretch further, covering Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang, Akleh Highway, Duke Highway and several other key routes.

The LTdL 2025 cycling race will roll into KL for its grand finale. The last stage starts in Tangkak, Johor and wraps up at KLCC, Jalan Ampang, around 3PM on Sunday.

"In this regard, several roads around KLCC, including Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and Jalan P. Ramlee, will be temporarily closed starting from 2 pm until the race is over," Fadil added.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, take public transport, or find alternative routes to avoid being stuck.
