JPJ senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the backlog includes more than 1.45 million AWAS summonses, along with nearly 300,000 Notices 114 and over 160,000 Notices 115, NST has reported.

"Motorists who continue to ignore them face harsher penalties including compounds raised to RM300 and demerit points under the Kejara system that could lead to a licence suspension," he warned.

To ease the burden, Muhammad Kifli urged offenders to take advantage of a settlement programme that lets them clear any of the three offences for a flat RM150. The discount, which began in January, runs until the end of the year.

According to Kifli, The Menora Tunnel in Ipoh is among the worst hotspots, with up to 3,000 speeding summonses issued daily through AWAS cameras, especially during festive travel peaks.

States such as Selangor, Perak, and Johor also top the charts due to the higher number of enforcement cameras.

He reminded road users not to wait until it’s too late.

“Settle your summonses now or risk being blacklisted,” Muhammad Kifli said.
