- Turn Left At Red Only When Safe - DBKL
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is urging drivers to pay closer attention to the “Belok Kiri Jika Tiada Kenderaan dan Pejalan Kaki” sign, which allows left turns at red lights but only when it’s completely safe.
In a Facebook post, DBKL said many motorists are still unaware or inattentive to the sign’s meaning.
“This sign allows drivers to turn left at a red traffic light, but only if the way is completely safe
Ensure there are no vehicles coming from other directions, no pedestrians crossing, and always prioritise safety before moving,” the council reminded, adding that drivers must stop if pedestrians or other vehicles are present.
DBKL stressed that this is not a special privilege but a responsibility. Misusing it can put pedestrians and other road users at risk.

The reminder is simple. Don’t treat the sign as a free pass. Check the road, look out for pedestrians, and only move when it’s safe. When used correctly, it helps traffic flow without putting anyone in danger.
