- 2026 Toyota Vios HEV Opened For Orders – 2 Variants, From RM103,900

It appears UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) are gearing up to introduce the 2026 Toyota Vios HEV range locally with two variants - a GR-Sport (GR-S) guise included.

Now here’s a surprise to end the week with. Earlier today, we chanced upon sighting critical updates to the UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) official website. The firm has elected to ‘tease’ the new 2026 Toyota Vios HEV range, and prices were listed too.
Similar to neighbouring Thailand where the model is marketed as the Yaris Ativ HEV, the Malaysia-spec 2026 Toyota Vios HEV range sees two variants on offer – a 1.5 HEV AT guise, followed by a sportier 1.5 HEV GR-Sport (GR-S) guise that standing as the model’s range-topper.
Prices were also listed on UMWT's official website, and it sees the Vios HEV 1.5 AT commanding RM103,900, whilst the Vios HEV GR-S is tagged at a higher RM109,900 figure.

Prices listed online sees the 1.5 HEV AT commanding an on-the-road (OTR) price tag of RM103,900, whereas the sportier 1.5 HEV GR-S is tagged at a higher RM109,900 figure. Included here are both a 5-year unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 8-year, unlimited mileage hybrid battery warranty.
Thanks to insiders at UMWT, we can also confirm that order taking for the new 2026 Toyota Vios HEV range is now opened at authorised dealers – hence the rapid website updates today. Despite being in 'teaser' stage still with no full images released, there’s still plenty to garner from what UMWT has put up online thus far.

Mirroring what’s marketed in the Kingdom just north of our Peninsular’s border, the 2026 Toyota Vios HEV adopts Toyota’s Fourth Generation Hybrid powertrain setup. It pairs a faimilar 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally aspirated petrol mill with a hybrid e-motor, e-CVT automatic transmission, and compact li-ion battery pack.
The setup, which is shared with the lifted Yaris Cross HEV crossover SUV twin that’s also set to arrive in Malaysia soon, has a claimed combined output of 111 PS. More importantly though, the package yields an ultra-low and frugal claimed NEDC-rated combined fuel economy of 3.6 litres/100 KM.

Whilst the upgraded 10.1-inch infotainment unit is shared, the 1.5 HEV AT guise gets key specifics such as upgraded cabin ambient lighting, front grille finishing, as well as an exclusive exterior paint option.

Moving to specs, the both variants are set to share the same upgraded 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen unit that brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. For reference, the existing Vios 1.5E is brimmed with a smaller 9-inch unit instead, but does have both wireless Apple and Android connectivity suites.
Specific to the 1.5 HEV AT is a dark chrome upper grille and gunmetal lower grille finishing combination. This variant also gains an ‘upgraded’ cabin ambient lighting suite plus a variant-exclusive ‘Celestite Grey Metallic’ exterior paint option alongside the familiar white, red, black and silver hues – no blue option here.

The GR-S variant ups the ante with a sportier front bumper and aerokit combo, exclusive 17-inch rolling stock, GR-S sports suspension, as well as the GR-S interior furnishing treatment.

Moving to the 1.5 HEV GR-S, it ups the ante with a sportier exclusive bumper and aerokit combination, GR-S 17-inch dual-tone wheels, as well as two dual-tone exterior paint schemes – pearl white over black and red over black – alongside single-tone red, black and white options.
On board, the GR-S variant naturally gains further with an exclusive sport-tuned suspension setup promising enhanced agility. Capping things off here is the customary GR-S interior scheme that brings combination leather-suede upholstery plus black and silver interior accents and trims.
For now, it’s unclear as to when exactly both models will officially launch. Given that prices are already listed in full, and that order-takings are now opened, we reckon UMWT will officially launch both perhaps next month before the Chinese New Year festivities. We’ll have more details then.
