Sony Honda Mobility’s second model will be a sleek EV SUV crossover based on the new Afeela Prototype 2026.

Sony Honda Mobility has kicked off its showcase at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 by unveiling the prototype for its second model, simply known as the Afeela Prototype 2026. This new design study previews the marque’s future EV SUV crossover, which is set to arrive in the United States later in 2028.

At one glance, you can see that the Afeela Prototype 2026 is essentially a jacked-up, crossover version of the Afeela 01 EV sedan, as it features many similar design cues, including the broad LED light strips on both ends, a display panel built into the front fascia, and the dual-tone colourway.

Some key interesting features we can see from the exterior include the sleek coupe-like roofline, hidden door handles, large multi-spoke wheels, and a LiDAR unit on the front part of the roof—the latter indicating some high degree of autonomous driving capability for this EV SUV.

Inside, the Afeela Prototype 2026 also closely resembles the sedan, featuring a minimalist cabin layout laden with tech and modern amenities. The EV SUV features multiple screen setups on the front dash along with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and it also includes two additional screens for the rear seats, allowing passengers to play PlayStation games on them.

That said, the backbone for the cabin is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis that is paired with an advanced AI agent developed by Microsoft. Not to forget, Sony Honda Mobility also promises Level 2+ autonomous driving capabilities at launch, with built-in capabilities to support up to Level 4 in the future.

As of now, no technical details were shared regarding the Afeela Prototype 2026’s powertrain setup, although it is expected to again closely resemble the Afeela 01. For reference, the sedan is powered by a dual-motor powertrain setup delivering up to 483 hp (360 kW), while juice is provided by a 91-kWh battery pack that is good for up to 483 km of range, at least according to the more stringent EPA standards.

Similarly, Sony Honda Mobility has also yet to reveal pricing for this upcoming EV crossover, but we can expect them to fetch a slight premium over the Afeela 01, which will retail at $89,900 (RM364,139) for the baseline Origin variant and $102,900 (RM416,796) for the top-spec Signature trim.
