- Launched: 2026 Chery Tiggo 8 – New 1.6T Heart, RM129,800
New 2026 Chery Tiggo 8 with Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.

The onslaught of new products for 2026 continue, this time from Chinese automaker Chery. Today, the firm announced the availability of the new 2026 Chery Tiggo 8 – a new ‘base-spec’ variant to its staple three-row D-SUV offering.
Why ‘base-spec’? It all stems from the new powertrain this variant adopts – a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbocharged and direct-injected petrol mill rated at 197 PS and 290 Nm. The mill continues to be paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic to drive its front wheels (FWD).
Visually, it's hard to tell this Tiggo 8 variant apart from its peppier Tiggo 8 Pro twin.

Besides respectable performance, Chery touts this new Tiggo 8 variant remains focused on fuel efficiency, promising an average as low as 7.0 litres/100 KM. We reckon this variant’s lightened kerb weight of 1,590 KG contributes to which too.
For reference, the Tiggo 8 Pro model, which packs a larger 2.0-litre 4-cyl petrol mill, puts out 256 HP and 390 Nm instead, whereas the electrified Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH remains the peppiest in the range with 279 PS and 365 Nm.
On board, much of the amenities and equipment in this new Tiggo 8 variant also mirrors what the peppier Tiggo 8 Pro guise packs.

Beyond the downsized powertrain, all other specifications and features brimmed in this new entry-level variant largely mirrors the Tiggo 8 Pro guise. Key to which is the full package of advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) functions.
Highlights of said ADAS package noted include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Fordward and Rear Collision Warning (FCW & RCW), Auotonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and more. This comes on top of core basics that include 6 airbags, ISOFIX childseat anchors, ABS, ESP and TCS, and more.

Besides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, other key amenities present include a 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof, as well as power-adjustable front seats.

Besides that, premium amenities primed also include a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 8-speaker Sony audio suite, cabin ambient lighting, power-adjustable front seats, 360-degree parking camera, and more.
Lastly comes price. Positioned as the entry-level guise to the Tiggo 8 line-up, this variant commands just RM129,800 – some RM30,000 less than both the Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV CSH.
Priced RM30,000 lower than the Tiggo 8 Pro, the new Tiggo 8 also sees a special Launch Package that brings extended warranties, all-inclusive service plan plus complimentary 1-year insurance.

In conjunction with its launch, the 2026 Chery Tiggo 8 sees a special Launch Package worth RM13,700 included. Said package firstly brings a 7-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 10-year or 1,000,000 KM engine warranty.
Next, the Launch Package also adds an all-inclusive 5-year free service plan, as well as 1-year Chery Insurance Programme included.
