Updated 2026 Mitsubishi Triton GSR Bows In Japan With Enhanced Suspension
Lightly updated 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete for Japan and likely Australia pictured. The most key change here is its trick new Yamaha Motor Performance Damper.

It looks like the third-gen Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 pick-up truck for the Japanese market has been given a slight update. More specifically, it’s the sole 2026 Mitsubishi Triton GSR variant that the automaker offers in its home market that has been revised.
The headlining change here is invisible – this Japanese market model (JDM) now rides on an enhanced suspension setup using new Yamaha Motor Performance Damper. Said hardware is also supplied and brimmed in key rivalling Toyota and Lexus models too.
Mitsubishi touts better ride comforts and enhanced handling stability thanks to the new suspension hardware noted.

According to the Japanese tri-diamond marque, the new Performance Dampers are derived from the Triton AXCR rally car. It’s designed to regulate chassis distortion and absorb vibrations from the vehicle body whilst on the move.
In turn, this enhanced suspension hardware results with better ride comforts plus improved handling stability. The latter stems from reduced vertical movements when tackling bumps, as well as mitigating minute vibrations emanating from the powertrain.
In Japan, the Triton is marketed solely in GSR guise packing a familiar 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel mill paired with a 6-speed automatic box and SuperSelect 4WD-II driveline.

Speaking of which, the Japanese market Triton GSR guise shares the familiar 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel mill rated at 204 PS (201 hp) and 470 Nm. Paired with it is a 6-speed automatic box and Super Select 4WD-II – all of which mirroring overseas spec.
Beyond which, this Japanese market model also gains Tailgate Assist function as standard, not forgetting a Panasonic Nanoe X air filtration system brimmed on board. It also gains revised dark titanium centre console and inner door handle garnish.

Other changes include the addition of Tailgate Assist function as standard, as well as new dark titanium centre console and inner door handle garnish.

Beyond which, it appears little else has changed in this version of the latest-gen Triton. Beyond Japan, credible sources online also report that it will also be marketed in Australia at least, though availability in other markets remain unclear still.
As a refresher, the third-gen Mitsubishi Triton arrived in Malaysia in late 2024 with 5 variants available initially and priced from RM101,980 onwards. An ‘enhanced’ – read: up-specced – range-topping Athelete version arrived in mid-2025 priced at RM159,980.
