lrt-kelana-jaya-train-630x438.jpg Rapid Rail has reassured commuters that the Kelana Jaya LRT line is running as scheduled despite recent posts about trains being “taken out of service.”

The operator says these updates are routine and part of standard operational and safety procedures, such as minor maintenance or system checks, including air-conditioning issues

“When a train is withdrawn from service, Rapid Rail implements mitigation measures, including deploying replacement trains if necessary. This ensures that headways are maintained during peak hours and that service reliability is not affected,” the firm said.

Earlier this week, several trains were temporarily withdrawn across different stations, starting Monday at 6:38 am at Gombak, followed by Masjid Jamek, Damai, and Kelana Jaya stations. The posts sparked concerns among commuters, many of whom feared the line was facing serious technical issues.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke weighed in, saying, “I take seriously the recent service disruptions involving the Kelana Jaya LRT line at the start of Ramadan. The public has every right to expect a more efficient and reliable service.”

He has instructed Prasarana Malaysia Bhd’s CEO to provide a full explanation during a post-Cabinet meeting, along with an immediate recovery action plan. The minister also directed the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to investigate and take action if operational weaknesses are confirmed.

Rapid Rail emphasized that despite the temporary withdrawals, the LRT is operating according to peak-hour intervals and there has been no unusual congestion at stations or onboard trains.

"Our proactive communication aims to keep passengers informed in real time and should not be interpreted as service disruptions," The operator added.

The series of events followed multiple disruptions on Tuesday, with a morning and afternoon incident affecting commuter flows.

While the notices understandably caused frustration, the operator stressed that safety and passenger comfort are priorities, and temporary withdrawals are standard practice to ensure smooth operations.
