RM191k For 2026 Subaru Crosstrek? 5 Game-Changing Upgrades That Actually Justify The Price Tag

The legendary Subaru XV is officially gone, and in its place stands the all-new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek. Launched at The Gardens Mall, this third-generation crossover arrives as a fully imported (CBU) unit from Japan with a price tag of RM190,788.
While the price has moved up, so has the substance. We aren't just looking at new bumpers and a name change; Subaru has overhauled the "bones" and the "brains" of this car. Here are the 5 most impactful changes that make the new Crosstrek a serious contender in the premium crossover space.
1. The "Triple-Eye" Vision (EyeSight 4.0)

Subaru’s famous safety suite just got a massive hardware upgrade. Instead of the usual two cameras, the Crosstrek now features a three-camera system.
What's new: An additional wide-angle monocular camera has been added to the existing stereo cameras.
The Impact: This setup significantly expands the detection range, allowing the car to spot pedestrians and cyclists much earlier. It also powers new features like Autonomous Emergency Steering and Lane Centring Control.
2. A "WRX-Inspired" Digital Cockpit

Step inside, and you’ll notice the interior has skipped an entire generation. The highlight is the massive 11.6-inch portrait-format touchscreen.
The Tech: This tablet-style display replaces the old buttons and small screens found in the XV.
The Convenience: It comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a dedicated wireless charging pad. No more messy cables cluttering your center console.
3. The "Comfort Meets Control" Chassis

The Crosstrek still sits on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), but it’s been "hit with a gym membership."
The Change: The chassis is now 10% stiffer than the previous generation.
The Result: Because the body is more rigid, Subaru was able to fit softer spring rates. This means you get a much plusher, more comfortable ride over KL’s potholes without losing any of that signature Subaru handling.
4. Hands-Free Loading (Powered Tailgate)

It’s a feature Subaru fans in Malaysia have been asking for for years. For the first time, the Crosstrek comes equipped with a powered tailgate.
The Impact: Whether you’re carrying groceries or adventure gear, you can now access the boot with the press of a button. It’s a "small" luxury that makes a huge difference in daily usability.
5. Japanese Build Quality (CBU Japan)

Unlike previous local assemblies, the 2026 Crosstrek is fully imported (CBU) from Japan.
Peace of Mind: Each purchase is accompanied by a five-year/100,000-km vehicle warranty.
The Look: You get 8 vibrant colours to choose from: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Magnetite Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Sapphire Blue Pearl, Pure Red, Sand Dune Pearl, and Citron Yellow Pearl.
Need Some Extras?
If you want to spec up your Crosstrek, Subaru offers several official add-ons:
- Raytech Window Tint: RM2,000
- Rhadium Coating: RM2,200
- Subaru Digital Video Recorder (Dashcam): RM860
