Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 Sportback combines the powerful performance of an SUV with high everyday usability. Its coupe-like roofline underscores the new, sporty design language, while the quattro permanent all-wheel drive ensures a fascinating drive every time.

Officially launched in Malaysia in August 2021, this CBU SUV comes in only one variant, which is the Q5 Sportback S line 2.0 TFSI quattro and is priced from RM 404,878.

The Audi Q5 Sportback has a dashboard design that is sporty and premium-looking with high levels of craftsmanship and build quality. It is covered in soft-touch materials with wooden brown trims as a detailing finish. The buttons for the systems and the overall layout are well put as it is simple and very easy reachability and driver oriented.

It gets the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus treatment that features a 12.3-inch fully-digital high-resolution

multi-functional instrument cluster.

The seats are finished in leather/leatherette mono.pur 550 combinations. Sport seats are fitted up front and are electrically adjustable with 4-way lumbar support and memory function for the driver's seat.

It offers plenty of head, shoulder and legroom thus front and rear occupants get ample space. The space is very generous due to the stocky and bulbous design of the body.

It has numerous storage areas including large sized door pockets, compartmentalized storage areas in the center console including a cavern storage space in the center console armrest and a decent-sized glove box.

There are 4 cup holders, 2 located in the front center console, while the other 2 located at the rear’s center armrest. As for bottle holders it gets 4 with one located in each side door panel.

It gets one 12-volt power socket and one USB port in the front center console.

It comes with 510-litres of boot space and when the back seats are folded it opens up to 1,480-litres. Thus, it is able to fit up to 2 large suitcases and also 3 pet carriers at the same time with ease. 

The measurements are 4,689 mm length, 1,893 mm width, 1,660 mm height, and weigh 1,770 kg with a wheelbase spanning 2,819 mm.

The Q5 Sportback exudes a stocky and sporty exterior with a front outlook that is very aggressive looking. It gets a commanding single frame honeycomb grille that is fairly large, highlighted by satin chrome trims and has the Audi ‘Four Rings’ moniker plastered at the top center.

Paired to it is a set of fog lights integrated into the large and sporty air vents located at the edges of the bumper with another separated wider but slim and stretched out air vent positioned in between at the lower middle part of the bumper. Also, all parts are finished with satin chrome detailing.

At the rear, it gets a more bulbous yet sporty look for the overall design. It’s paired with a clean and slim looking roof edge spoiler that has an integrated third brake light. 

Its coupe-like roofline or as the name suggests, the sportback design allows for a mid-tailgate lip-like body colored spoiler and is paired with a slim chrome strip that connects the tail lights. 

The rear bumper is fitted with slit-shaped fog lights and it also gets a dark grey simple and sporty diffuser with an integrated silver trim running across the middle of the diffuser from left to right. 

It gets a pair of sharp and trapezoidal-shaped headlamps with full LED units and LED Daytime Running Lights. Plus, there is also an option for Matrix LED headlamps.

The positioning of the headlights is slanted inwards to give it a fierce looking face and the sharp angular-design gives the front a more focused and athletic look.

At the back, the taillights are sculpted in 3D LED combination units. The edgy-looking large wraparound design has a very commanding layout of the back. Also offered are the optional OLED tail lights, which have three different LED lighting patterns.

The side mirrors are electrically adjustable, heated and folding, automatically dimming with memory function.

The Audi Q5 Sportback is equipped with 20-inch 5-segment spoke style in graphite grey, diamond turned, alloy rims with 255/45 R20 tyres.

The Audi Q5 Sportback features Audi Pre-Sense Rear, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with speed limiter, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Exit Warning System (EWS), Lane Change Warning (LCW), Park Assist with 360-degree Surround View Camera and Rear Cross Traffic Assist (RCTA).

Passive safety includes 6 airbags which includes driver and passenger, front side, front and rear curtain, seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, rear parking sensors, crash sensors, front and rear parking cameras, ISOFIX, front impact beams, side impact beams, door ajar warning, security alarm with electronic immobilizer and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Audi Drive Select with five modes – Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual.

It features the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus that comes with a 10.1-inch freestanding touchscreen display with MMI Navigation plus, Audi connect, Audi smartphone interface. It also supports Bluetooth and AUX connectivity.

Installed with the Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system. 

The Audi Q5 Sportback harbors a 2.0L, mild-hybrid 4-cylinder and 16-valve inline with turbocharging and intercooling petrol engine that generates 249 hp (183 kW) at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm.

The powertrain churns with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Powered by Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system with ultra-technology.

It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 237 km/h. 

Equipped with a 70-litre fuel tank and is capable of delivering a combined fuel consumption figure of 8.0-litres for every 100 km.

The Audi Q5 Sportback has smart keyless entry with engine push-button start, hands-free powered boot operation, triple-zone deluxe automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, steering tilt and telescopic functions, interior mirror with automatic dimming, power adjustable with lumbar support front seats with driver seat memory function, front and rear view camera with rear parking sensors, auto headlights, auto high-beam and rain sensing wipers function.

There’s a rear air vent located at the center, behind the front occupant’s arm rest with its own separated set of controls.

It is very spacious and extremely comfortable. It has a handling that is more refined and agile. Overall, the ride quality is good and has a wonderfully smooth engine power and transmission delivery.

The Audi Q5 Sportback has good sound insulation. The NVH aspects of the vehicle are aided by the acoustic windscreens hence the cabin is able to suppress wind, road and tyre noises well and make them barely noticeable even when cruising through bumpy asphalts.
