Hyundai Ioniq 6

One half of a panoramic setup, installed is a 12.3-Inch Supervision Integrated Cluster-AVNT (Audio Video Navigation Telematics) display with a Heads-Up Display (HUD).

Upholstery is in all-black leather. Fitted up front is the Premium Relaxation Seat, and the rear comes with a standard bench seat.

The front seats feature power adjustments (eight-way with lumbar), ottomans and One-Touch-Recline. The rear seats get a 60:40 split-fold configuration.

Perfecting the interior’s overall ambience is a sunroof (Ioniq 6 Max AWD), and a 64-colour ambient lighting system with six dual-colour themes.

Standard fitment is a leather-wrapped steering wheel, in a twin-spoke with a flat-bottom design, finished in black.

It features multi-function buttons (media, vehicle telematics), voice recognition, column adjustments (tilt, telescopic) and paddle shifters.

Aiding the drive is a Rack-Mounted Motor Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS) system.

Several practical spaces available. E.g., centre console caverned and partitioned spaces, a drawer-like sliding glove box, and seat back and side door pockets.

There are four cup holders, two located in the front centre console and two in the rear seating’s centre armrest. Also present are four bottle holders, located at each of the side door pockets.

Equipped are five USB ports (one - type-A, four - type-C), a 12-V power socket, a wireless charger, and a 3.6-KW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability (outlets - interior, exterior).

Electronically-adjusted and -folded, the side mirrors come with turn-signals and blind spot-indicators.

Fitted for the front and rear setups are a set of ventilated disc brakes (457 MM), accompanied by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold system.

The 2023 Ioniq 6 features the Hyundai SmartSense suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). 

Featured are Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Go (SCC w/S&G), Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA 2), Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), and Surround View Monitor (SVM - 360-degree camera). Others include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), and Multi-Collision Brake (MCB).

Passive safety includes seven airbags (driver/passenger, driver knee, front, front side, rear curtain), seat belts (reminder, pre-tensioner, anchor), ISOFIX, impact beams, door ajar warning, electrochromic interior rear-view mirror, Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), parking sensors (four-front, four-rear), parking cameras (360-degree), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Four drive modes available. Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow. 

Also featured is an Electric-Active Sound Design (e-ASD) system, emitting a ‘spaceship-like’ sound in the cabin that tailors to the car’s driving status.

The Hyundai SmartSense suite will make driving less fatigue and much safer. Plus, with the other supporting systems, long-distance travels will be less of a burden for the driver as well as ensuring the safety of the occupants on board. 

The 2023 Ioniq 6 harbours two powertrain setups, one for each variant.

Variant Ioniq 6 Max RWD is embedded with one rear-mounted electric motor, a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), generating 225 HP/168-KW and 350 NM of torque.

Variant Ioniq 6 Max AWD surges with two front- and rear-mounted electric motors, a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), making 321 HP/239-KW and 605 NM of torque.

It has a single-speed automatic transmission, Shift-By-Wire (electronic shift system).

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) system for variant Ioniq 6 Max RWD, and to all four wheels via an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system for variant Ioniq 6 Max AWD.

Sport Mode engaged, acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 7.4 seconds (Ioniq 6 Max RWD) and 5.1 seconds (Ioniq 6 Max AWD). Top speed hits 185 KM/H for both variants.

Standard fitment on the 2023 Ioniq 6 includes Smart Keyless Entry (engine Start/Stop button/flush door handles), remote start function, Shift-By-Wire (electronic shift system), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Autohold, Smart Power Tailgate (contactless operation), dual-zone automatic climate control (with rear air vents), power-adjustable front seats (eight-way with lumbar support, ottomans, One-Touch-Recline), steering wheel (multi-function, column adjustments, paddle shifters), electrochromic interior rear-view mirror, wireless charger, multiple USB ports, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, 64-colour ambient lighting, sunroof (Ioniq 6 Max AWD), and 360-degree camera.

A suitable daily-driver, the ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time, delivering an all-electric, high-power density and reliability.

Suspension fitted is a setup of Macpherson struts (front) and Multi-link (rear). Overall, inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

It is well equipped to offer high levels of NVH comfort (Noise, Vibration, Harshness). The cabin is well-designed, enhancing the in-car ambience.

Ultimately, it is able to suppress unwanted noises well and make them barely noticeable, even when cruising through bumpy asphalts or at high speeds.
