Limited units, ultra-low pricing, sharply reduced warranty coverage and a refund clause if repairs cannot be carried out all point to urgency rather than confidence. <img src="https://static-content-live.caricarz.com/media_library/post/21464/16807766/conversions/image-full_normal.jpg" style="width: 100%;" data-media-id="16807766" alt="image.jpg"> Just a year ago, the picture looked very different. Throughout 2025, Neta repeatedly revised pricing for the <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2023/10/launched-neta-v-ev-single-variant-380-km-range-rm100k" target="_blank">Neta V, cutting it from its original RM100,000</a> positioning to as low as RM55,000 for low-mileage units, while still offering long-term warranties. Even then, the aggressive discounts hinted at weak demand.What is happening now goes much further.These are not demo or used cars, but new 2024 units being pushed out below RM40,000, with buyers effectively asked to accept minimal post-sale support. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has stated that the <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/ecrl-project-on-track-despite-rm29mil-theft-losses" target="_blank" style="">fares for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) will not be announced until after the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) conducts a full study and the necessary authorities grant approval.</a>
He confirmed that the pricing will be made public a few months before the start of official operations, allowing sufficient time for travelers to make their plans.Construction on <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/11/ecrl-trains-fully-assembled-ready-for-malaysia" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">the 665-kilometre ECRL network has now reached more than 90 percent completion, surpassing its target</a>. Inspired by the Rumah Melayu and Bunga Ketam Guri, the station will offer ample parking, passenger drop-off and pick-up points, covered walkways, and staff facilities. "The project has reached more than 82 percent completion and is expected to be fully ready by the second quarter of 2026," the minister stated.

In terms of infrastructure, the 132-kilovolt electricity supply from the main substation to Feeder Station 01 has already been activated ahead of schedule. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) and Ministry of Transport (MOT) introduced this new framework <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/09/govt-will-tighten-ron95-subsidy-checks-for-e-hailing-drivers" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">to address the difficulties faced by e-hailing vehicle owners whose permits were nearing expiry.</a>&nbsp;Previously, drivers had no option to renew road tax for less than six months, which often left them in a bind when their vehicle permits had less than six months remaining.

"Under the updated system, e-hailing drivers can now choose renewal periods ranging from one to five months, with the total fees capped at the six-month road tax rate

"The maximum renewal period remains 12 months, while the minimum is one month. Renewals are subject to the shortest remaining validity among the vehicle permit, the motor vehicle inspection report, and insurance coverage," the ministry said in a statement.<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">&nbsp;MOT emphasised that standard six- and 12-month road tax rates remain unchanged, while the new flexible renewal introduces prorated fees for shorter periods. Vehicles with engine capacities between 1,404cc and 1,600cc can renew for one month at RM8.50, two months at RM15, and three months at RM22.50. Similar prorated rates apply under other usage codes and across states, with lower fees in Sabah, Sarawak, and tax-free zones such as Langkawi and Labuan.
"The move is part of the government’s effort to make compliance simpler and more cost-effective for gig economy drivers, many of whom rely on e-hailing services for their livelihood." it stated, adding that this flexibility is only valid while the vehicle remains legally registered as an e-hailing vehicle.
