BMW Group Malaysia launched their improved New My BMW App and the New MINI App.

The aim of this initiative is to allow a greater digital personalisation of the Premium Ownership Experience.

“As we progress exponentially into a digital future, BMW Group Malaysia is also committed towards supporting individual electromobility solutions that are designed to unlock the full digital potential of our BMW and MINI vehicles. The new applications are also products of identifying and listening to our customers’ evolving needs, as we seamlessly integrate our BMW and MINI vehicles into their digital lifestyles to offer not just useful content for daily travel, but also better personal interaction with us as a brand,” said its managing director Harald Hoelzl.

The mobility applications have been revised with a fresh design that has currently been made available in more than 50 markets around the globe.

These applications will give BMW and MINI owners a more immediate access and better management of the vehicle status, as well as direct contact to the service centres of choice. In addition to that, these improved applications will allow users to be able to remotely control their BMW or MINI vehicle.

It is branched out into a three-tab structure; Vehicle, Map and Home tabs. The first tab is inclusive of remote vehicle services that include Active Charging, Vehicle Finder, Remote Lock and Unlock with Climate Charge and the Climate Timer. Also equipped in the New My BMW App are exclusive features such as Remote Engine Start and Flashlights, as well as Remote Software Upgrades.

Next to that, users will also be able to handle their car service and maintenance needs through the application. In case of emergencies, BMW and MINI Roadside Assistance can also easily be contacted. Not only that, a fully digital Driver’s Guide can be reached from any place, at any time.

Among the E-mobility features in the Vehicle tab is an overview of the Fuel/Battery Level, Range and Charging Status, as well as the all-new function, the Charging History feature. Coming as standard is the preconditioning function.

As for the Map tab, it helps to inform the user about the location and also the destination along the journey. It is equipped with features such as Map Search, and Point of Interests (POIs) with all-new e-mobility features that include the Nearby Parking and Charging Spots, Charging Station Details, and reachable POIs.

An interesting highlight is that users will be able to send or share a location to the vehicle from an external application. However, for electrified vehicle owners, the new Range Circle in the application will allow them to identify destinations that can be reached within the current range, based on the current location.

A fun Message Center feature was included, as well as a new profile personalisation feature. Another exclusive feature for the New My BMW App is the Connected Drive Store and the Discover BMW features.

Following that, only selected BMW models will be able to connect their BMW Digital Key with the New My BMW App. This is also only able to be accessed on smartphones running iOS.

The new mobility applications will entirely replace the previous BMW Connected and MINI Connected applications by July this year. Users who have previously registered under the applications will not need to register again to sign into the New My BMW App and the New MINI App.

The new applications are now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
