Lockdown: How Many People Allowed In One Car?
Perhaps many citizens have been wondering how many individuals are allowed to ride in a vehicle after the government announced the implementation of the total lockdown last Friday. Here's what we can tell you!
Only two household representatives are allowed to ride in private vehicles during the Phase One full closure or ‘total lockdown’ period which will take effect from tomorrow.
The matter was confirmed by Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The number of passengers in taxis and e-hailing services are also limited to two individuals only including the driver and passenger.
Under the new standard operating procedures, passengers are required to sit in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.
Although, for medical or emergency purposes, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has agreed to allow three people, including the driver, to ride in a taxi or e-hailing vehicle.
"The capacity of the three people is only allowed for medical purposes such as hospital appointments but they need to submit a doctor's confirmation letter or vaccination confirmed through the MySejahtera application," he said.
Before this, the government allowed three people from one family to be in a car when leaving the house from May 12 to June 7 following the implementation of the third movement control order (PKP 3.0).
However, the order of three people in one car was revoked immediately after the government announced the implementation of a total lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.
