A Big Congratulations To Kia Europe For Passing Its 4 Million-Production Milestone!
Kia Slovakia recently announced rolling off its production line with a Kia Sportage for its four millionth vehicle. Wow, that’s a whole lot of cars!
The plant began its mass production in 2006 which kickstarted Kia’s expansion across Europe. Some of the very first vehicles produced at Kia Slovakia were among the Kia Ceed passenger car family.
This lineup is known to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Europe specifically for European consumers. Not only that, this range was also brought in at the same time as the company’s top of the class seven-year warranty.
The plant managed to produce its one-millionth vehicle by 2012 and has added another million vehicles every three years since then.
Today, after 9 years, Kia Slovakia has managed to produce four million cars across its 7.5-kilometre production line that is able to put together eight different models at the same time.
In addition to that, the company currently manages the production of all members of the Ceed family that include Ceed, Ceed GT, Ceed Sportswagon, ProCeed, XCeed, as well as the three last generations of the Sportage.
“It is due to the efforts of all our employees, especially the production operators, that we have achieved this incredible milestone in our history. Kia Slovakia has long been recognized for outstanding quality, efficiency, safety and technology, and the success of our models in Europe reflects these high standards,” said President of Kia Slovakia, Seok-Bong Kim.
In case you didn't know, the plant is one of Slovakia’s biggest producers and exporters that employs a 3,700 strong workforce that is accommodated by technologically advanced robots.
After the recent €70 million (RM 349.3 million) investment received by the plant, it allowed for the production and assembly of new gasoline engines.
Due to the changing market demands, Kia is now working on the manufacturing of small-capacity and high-efficiency gasoline engines on three engine production lines. Not forgetting a fourth line which will be devoted to the company’s newest ‘Smartstream’ 1.6-litre diesel engine.
