Akin To Scenes From Disaster Movies, A Road In Jeram Cracked Open
Residents of Kampung Bukit Hijau, Jeram, Kuala Selangor were left in shock yesterday after witnessing a road in their housing area ruptured and cracked open.

The sudden catastrophe that stretches up to 100 meters caused major damage to the road and luckily none of the vehicles passing through at the time of the incident were caught in the turmoil.
“Thankfully there were no vehicles that succumbed into the gaping street”, commented Bukit Hijau’s village head Masdek Jamal when contacted by CariCarz.

Matters may have been worse, as it is said that the disaster could have endangered the lives of many, especially the 1,000 residents located in Bukit Hijau that frequents the particular road.
Masdek added, “That particular street is usually the route used to go in and out by almost every one of the 1,000 residents here”.

Furthermore, when he was asked whether the damage on the road had been fixed, he exclaimed that so far, nothing has been done yet except for some barricades along the 100-meter stretch.
Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor’s Public Works Department or Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR), confirmed the cause for the road splitting into two was due to its overall structure not being solid and sturdy.

“Early investigations found that the incident happened due to the road’s overall structure that was not built firmly and properly, which led to it rupturing and cracking into two”, reported by JKR.
It has also been identified by the department that the depth of the damage done to the road is about 1.3 meters deep.

Evidently, to avoid any other unwanted calamity from happening, the road has been temporarily closed off and a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) has been executed to overcome the issue.
