MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door and MINI John Cooper Works Countryman Unveiled!: MINI Malaysia

MINI Malaysia has recently showcased the latest variants of the MINI John Cooper - the MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door and MINI John Cooper Works Countryman for the local market. 

Both variants receive newly revamped exterior and design accents. The MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door gets a brand-new radiator grille larger and forms a single hexagon that extends lower to the road. Blending within the body colour within the hexagon is the safety bar, emphasised by the red crossbar that runs across the front. 

Meanwhile, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman receives a new radiator grille, and the identity of the new Countryman is accentuated by the trademark Union Jack light design.

Piano Black exterior trimmings grace both the New MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door and the New MINI John Cooper Works Countryman, including high-gloss black door handles, the MINI emblem, and model badges. Both new models offer new adaptive LED headlights with variable light distribution and a matrix feature for the high beam lights.

Powered by a 2.0-litre 4-Cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo Engine along with an 8-Speed Steptronic Sport transmission, the MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door can produce 231 hp and 320 Nm, with a century sprint of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 246km/h. Fuel consumption is 6.3 litres per 100 kilometres driven, with CO 2 emissions of 143 g/km.

Additionally, the MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door is equipped with the newly improved Adaptive Suspension set up with frequency-selective dampening technology and a Brembo sports brake system - consisting of four-piston calliper brakes with internally ventilated discs and red brake callipers with the John Cooper Works logo. This allows the vehicle to have more optimised and agile driving. 

On the other hand, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman features the most powerful engine ever in a MINI: a 2.0-litre 4-Cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo Engine along with an independent cooling system and 8-Speed Steptronic Sport Transmission. Output is recorded at 306 hp and 450 Nm, with a top speed of 250 km/h and a century sprint of 5.1 seconds. Fuel consumption is 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres driven, with CO 2  emissions of 175 g/km.

Engineered for agility, precision and handling, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is fitted with a high-rigidity chassis, suspension and damping features, as well as the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and electromechanical steering. Fitted are also the Adaptive Suspension and a sports braking system with four-piston fixed calliper disc brakes on the front wheels and a single-piston floating-calliper disc brake on the rear wheels.

Interior-wise, the MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door is seen with a new steering wheel integrated with command buttons, 5.0-inch Digital Instrument Cluster Display, a redesigned 8.8-inch centre touch display instrument with a new operating system - which also features the Live Widget feature accessible via swiping motion on the touch display. 

Welcomed with the vehicle is also different interior Colour Worlds, namely Lounge and Sports. In Lounge mode, the display surfaces shift to calming blue and turquoise hues, while switching to Sports mode changes the screen to red and anthracite. The Colour Worlds can also be synchronised with the driving modes, allowing colour changes aligned with the accelerator pedal. 

The new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman also gets an interior upgrade: a 5.0-inch Digital Instrument Cluster display which comes as standard, an updated 8.8-inch colour display with a touch screen function, as well as a refreshed steering wheel design. 

For both variants, other premium features include Dinamica Leather John Cooper Works Sport Seats, Head-Up Display, Comfort Access system, MINI Driving Modes, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and Panoramic Sunroof. Designed exclusively for the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is the MINI Yours Illuminated Interior Surface in Piano Black. 

As standard, the MINI John Cooper 3 Door and MINI John Cooper Works Countryman now come with Driving Assistant - consisting of the digital high-beam assistant, speed limit information, the person warning with light city braking function and approach control warning with light city braking function. The Parking Assistant is also available, which is a first for the 3 Door, as well as Lane Departure Warning. 

On the new models, advanced connection, audio, and navigation functions are now included as standard. Digital Instrument Cluster, Teleservices, MINI Online, Intelligent Emergency Call, Remote Services, telephony with wireless charging, Concierge Services, MINI Navigation, and Apple CarPlay preparation are just a few of them. Alternatively, the MINI App can be downloaded from either Google Play Store and Apple App Store, serving as a universal interface between devices and vehicles. 

The MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door and MINI John Cooper Works Countryman come in three colours: Rebel Green, Midnight Black and White Silver. Accompanying all three options is a roof colour in striking Red. 

The MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door will be priced from RM311,259.49 and the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman from RM383,463.07. Note that both models arrive with the MINI 4 Years Unlimited Warranty with Free Scheduled service. With MINI Balloon Financing, customers can own the MINI John Cooper Works 3 Door from RM3,458 per month, while the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman at RM4,258 per month (based on estimates of 80 percent loan on a five-year tenure).

Both models are also covered by MINI Malaysia’s 5 Years Roadside Assistance programme, which covers 24-Hour, 365-days-a-year Accident and Helps On The Phone and On The Spot Hotline, Free Towing Services when needed, Replacement Vehicle, Seamless Mobility, Accommodation, Mobility Services Solutions as well as Repatriation services. 

The MINI models are now available at all authorised MINI dealerships nationwide, from July 1. However, following the Movement Control Order, customers are encouraged to view the models online or contact any preferred dealers. Online booking is also available via the MINI Online Shop platform.
