Volvo Car Malaysia Gets A New Managing Director
Volvo Car Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for Volvo passenger vehicles in Malaysia, has announced that Charles Frump will be taking over the managing director role from Nalin Jain.
Frump served as the managing director of Volvo Car India since 2017, before heading to Malaysia. He played an instrumental role in accelerating the growth of Volvo’s market share and earnings in India.
He started his journey with Volvo Cars in 2008, where he was the director of marketing in Volvo Car Japan. Frump has more than 20 years of automotive experience in different markets and dynamics across Asia, the United States of America, and Europe. He also held various roles in marketing, sales, customer service, and network management.
“I am excited to embark on a new chapter of my journey with Volvo in a new market. I see Malaysia as a crossroad of the places I have been in the past, and I look forward to working closely with the local team, individual by individual, to build our strengths,” said Frump in a statement.
Frump holds a master of business administration degree in international marketing from UCLA Anderson School of Management, Los Angeles, USA. He completed his bachelor’s in economics and mathematics from St. Olaf College, Minnesota, USA.
He is a sports enthusiast and enjoys playing ice hockey. He also likes to explore a new country every year with his wife but still finds himself going back to Japan and Spain time and again as his all-time favourite travel destinations.
Frump’s appointment follows Volvo’s global announcement of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030. Volvo cars recently launched its ‘Ultimate Safety Test’ campaign to declare climate change the greatest safety challenge humankind faces today.
As the company strives towards a more sustainable future, Frump will play a key part in spearheading Volvo Car Malaysia as the leader in premium electric vehicles in Malaysia.
“The future of electric- this is something we firmly believe in. The children of today will be the drivers of tomorrow, and they are going to grow up in an environment where climate change and global warming are the main issues they will face. To ensure that they will have a safe and green planet to live in, we aim to consistently reduce the life cycle carbon footprint per car through concrete action, which is why we are moving our entire portfolio of vehicles into electrification.
“We hope that by doing so, we can help our customers take active steps in sustainability together,” express Frump.
